The ComiKit Lab develops creative software for children and adults. We love dynamic languages like Smalltalk, Lisp, and JavaScript. Ongoing projects include a JavaScript-based development tool for developing software for Android devices, called DroidScript. We have also developed MagicWords, a creative software toy for children. A new project is Comics on Android devices.
Magic Words
Magic Words is a creative construction kit where children can program games and interactive words using pictures.
Comics on Android
The nice thing about Android is that it is open and developer friendly. There are Android devices in many formats and segments. For people who enjoy comics, Android is a new medium for reading and publishing sequential art. Mikael Kindborg has developed a demo application together with Gösta Lindwall and tecknarskolan.se. The demo demonstrates different comic strip formats on a Android mobile device. To read comics on a small picket-sized screen requires rethinking the visual format of comics. What is ComiKit
ComiKit is a trade mark for creative construction kits for children (and creative adults). Magic Words is the result of research on visual programming and the visual language of comics. "Comi" refers to "comic strips" and "Kit" to construction kits that consists of building blocks you can put together to make your own design.
